Introduction
Userful's Video Wall solution enables customers to group multiple displays to form a single large display using a single host PC/server. The Userful Network Video Wall™ is designed to utilize both the CPU and GPU to maximize performance.
This document provides instructions for installing Userful Network Video Wall™.

It may take between 10 minutes and 4 hours depending on the speed of your connection to download the .ISO file. After downloading the .ISO file burn it to a DVD or create a bootable USB flash drive.
Installation
To install, simply configure the system to boot from the optical drive, insert the DVD, and reboot the system. However, if you are using bootable USB flash drive for installation, configure the system to boot from the USB, plug-in the USB flash drive, and reboot the system.
Before installation begins, a customized installer will guide you through configuration settings. This includes setting the date and time, language support, keyboard layout, a root password, assigning a system hostname and creating a user account.
- When the first install screen appears, choose Installation Process Language that will assist you through the Installation process and click “Continue”.
- Next screen provides Installation Summary. It contains lot of options to customize the system settings. This includes setting date and time, language support, keyboard layout, assigning a system hostname etc.
- Click on the Date & Time and select the host PC/server's time zone
- Next choose the default language you wish to use for the system by clicking the Language Support

- Similarly select the keyboard layout under Keyboard (e.g. English US - see image to the right)

- Click Installation Destination and select the type of partitioning;
- "Automatically Configure Partitioning" (where entire hard drive will be formatted and you will loose all the data on that hard drive), or
- "I can configure partitioning" (manually specify the volume to be formatted)
- Next configure Network and set Hostname for your host PC/server. Network Settings must be configured to access the local area network or the Internet. The default network settings are correct for most installations. Click Network & Hostname link:
- Enable Network by switching the Ethernet button to "ON"
- Type name in the "Hostname" field available at the bottom-left corner of the screen
- Click Begin Installation
- Installation will begin immediately and as it proceeds set up a user account and root password under Configuration Prompt.
- Set the Root password for system access and administration, to work in non-graphical mode (for troubleshooting) and to access Control Center.
- Create a user for system access. You can designate newly created user as a root user by checking the option “Make this user administrator”. If desired, you can also add user to specific groups by clicking on “Advanced” option.

- Please Note: If you skip this step, you can set root password and can create user account after the "firstboot".
Note: The hostname you create should contain only alpha-numeric characters and hyphens (-). Other characters -- including a period/dot (.) -- are not supported. For example, test-computer is a valid hostname, but test.computer is not. Similarly, do not give "localhost" or "admin" as hostname. These are reserved keywords. |
Once done you will get success message. Reboot the system and accept the Userful’s EULA agreement and click Finish Configuration to launch the login screen.
Software Updates
The Userful team is continually working to improve product stability and feature set. Occasionally, Userful may release important maintenance updates between official software version releases.
The best way to install Userful and other system updates is to use the "System Updates" feature under Control Center.
The steps are:
- Open Control Center > System Operations and click "Check for Updates"
- Select option as per your maintenance contract and click "Continue" and follow update prompts
Please Note: An active internet connection and a valid support and maintenance contract is required to access the software updates.
