Control Center

The Control Center is a browser-based central management interface for administering Userful™. It can be accessed over a Local Area Network (LAN) without an Internet connection. However, some features such as licensing and system updates requires Internet access. The Control Center can be accessed from any web browser on any system within the same network. It can also be accessed remotely over the Internet provided you have proper Port Forwarding in place.

Administrators can manage, map and perform essential system operations from the Control Center.

Accessing the Control Center

There are several ways to access Control Center:

  • Using IP Address

Enter the IP Address of the host PC/server that you want to manage into the browser’s address bar.

  • Using Hostname

If your local network has been set up to route hostnames, you can use the host PC/server's hostname (which may be easier to remember than IP address). For network configured this way, simply open a web browser and enter hostname in the address bar.

  • Using localhost

If you are accessing Control Center from one of the stations you can simply enter http://localhost in the browser address bar and if you are accessing from the host PC/server, you can also use the native administration tool available under System > Administration > Userful Control Center.

Please Note: The root password is required to access the Control Center.

(Each of these will be discussed in detail below).

A gray box next to the CPU graphic list down the host PC/servers available within the same subnet along with there IP Address.

Station Mapping

Station Mapping page gives a snapshot of the current system status, number of stations online/offline, session containers and the video walls created. Station Mapping provides the ability to "map" stations to "session containers" -- such as video playback, URL kiosk -- via an intuitive drag-and-drop interface. Please refer to the Station Mapping Guide for more information and detailed instructions.

Network Stations

Network zero-client devices, also called "network stations", use network cabling (e.g. Cat-5e) to connect zero-client devices to the host PC/server. Please refer to Guide to Manage Network Zero Client Stations for more information and detailed instructions.

Broadcast Silent Alerts

This section of Control Center allows administrator to send short messages or alerts to all connected stations. Please refer to the Broadcast Alerts page for more information.

Shared Files

Shared Storage management allows user to easily transfer and access files between different stations. Please refer to Shared Files page for more information.

Virtual Machines

This section allows administrators to import Master VM images directly from the ova files. OVA files that are stored in “/shared-files” folder can be managed using this utility. Please refer to Importing the Master VM section for more details.

System Operations

Functions that affect the entire system (that is, the host CPU and all the connected displays) are found in the System Operations section of the Control Center. These include:

  • Failover Group Settings
  • Managing Licenses
  • Changing Admin Password
  • Changing Hostname
  • Enabling Nvidia Offload Support
  • Power Management
  • Rebooting/Shutting down the system
  • Network Settings
  • Managing Updates
  • Changing System Date/Time and Language
