What is OpenOffice?

OpenOffice is an office suite that contains the types of programs and features that one would expect from Microsoft Office*, but has the benefit of being cross-platform and free. This means that you can install OpenOffice on your home computer free of charge (be it Mac OS X, Windows, or Linux). OpenOffice is designed in a way so that you will be able to quickly understand its design, while being able to open the files that you already have. You can download a free copy of OpenOffice at their [website].

How do I use OpenOffice?

OpenOffice behaves very similarly to Microsoft Office, and if you are used to making simple spreadsheets, documents, and presentations in Microsoft Office you should have little difficulty adjusting to the nuances of OpenOffice. However, there are differences in some areas. If you are new to using Office software, or would like to see what nifty tricks you can do to become more efficient, OpenOffice.org has [documentation] of incredible breadth.
