Q: How should I use the USB ports on my monitor?
A: Similar to a powered USB hub.
The USB ports on some monitors (such as the Dell 1707) are part of an internal, powered USB hub built into the monitor case. You can use it in a similar fashion to any powered USB hub.
Because these ports are powered, there are many possible devices that could be used with them:
- USB audio adaptors
- USB head phones
- USB flash drives
- USB floppy drives
- USB cameras
[edit] Connecting Other USB Devices
To connect these USB devices to your monitor's USB hub, follow these steps:
- Before you begin a session in Userful Desktop, plug the USB device into the a USB port on your monitor.
- For a semi-permanently connected device use port 6 if available.
- For a temporarily connected device use port 7 if available.
- Start a session. When the session begins, any USB devices plugged into the station's powered USB hub will automatically be assigned to that station.
