Userful Multiplier 3.7
This release of Userful Multiplier brings numerous Linux distro support and stability improvements. The stable release of V.3.7 came out February 11, 2010.
Linux distro support improvements:
- Supports Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10 [#2665, #2938, #2822]
- Supports Fedora 11 [#1746]
- Supports SLED 11. [#2024]
- Upgraded Multi-X to use X11R7.4 (xorg-server v.1.5.3) [#1854]
- Supports newer version of GDM (gdm-2.22 or higher). [#2024]
- Fixed error messages when mounting flash drives on Ubuntu 9.04 [#2318]
Hardware support and hardware related fault tolerance improvements:
- Added support for Radeon HD video cards [#2438]
- Fixed X crashing problem caused by enabling "Desktop Effect" with NVIDIA driver. [#2024]
- Fixed issue of keyboard freezing on logout. [#2682]
- When Ubuntu users logged out using short cut keys, the cursor would disappear.
- Fixed behavior of device assignment screen with power fluctuation or repeated USB hotplugging [#2931, #2824]
- Corrected duplicate notifications when audio is hotplugged [#1923]
- Fixed cosmetic issue with startup text in splash screens [#1729]
- Flash drives would mount successfully, but error messages would appear
Multistation/multiseat support improvements:
- Resolved X-server problem with starting more than 6 Gnome sessions. [#2769]
- X-server was using excessive CPU time
- Resource limitations removed
Install/uninstall experience improvements:
- Resolved issue of "hanging" during package update [#2866]
- Fixed specious error messages when updating umx-utils [#2737]
- When updating umx-utils, there would sometimes be a NoSectionError. Changed error message to allow users to skip that Section and install sane defaults.
- Restores suspend, hibernate, shutdown options after software uninstall [#2374]
- Uninstall script was not restoring original settings in the System Menu.
- Added support for new version number format [#2936]
- Fixed a bug where certain machine ID strings were being processed incorrectly during license handling.
User interface improvements:
- Improved localization (translations) of user interface text [#2957]
- Move the location of Userful Control Panel menu icon into Administration menu. [#2578]
Known issues:
- Per-User-Storage support is disabled on Fedora 11 and Ubuntu 9.10 due to some technical limitations on those OS systems. If you need the Per-User-Storage support, please contact Userful.
- X crashes using VMWare Player on SLED11 with NVIDIA graphics card.
- Some User Interface text strings remain untranslated.
2009
Userful Multiplier 325
Changes first released August 17, 2009:
- Fixed automatic handling of DVI monitors on ATI cards.
- Updated RAC (Resource Access Control) code to support multiple ATI Radeon cards.
- With Userful Multiplier 324, any mix of cards with one or more ATI Radeon cards failed. This version fixes this problem. It was also discovered that the newest Radeon driver has some flaws, so the driver was rolled back to the previous version to avoid these issues.
- Fixed internationalization issues with Userful Control Panel:
- It was unable to obtain the MAC address when certain languages were used. [#2657]
- Changed "Readme" button to "Help". [#2584]
- Minor formatting fixes for improved display of text. [#2585]
- Improved usability of user interface messaging for safely removing USB storage devices. [#2532]
Known issues:
- The Userful Multiplier display configuration GUI will not show up if an ATI Radeon HD card is being used. [#2070]
- Upgrading Userful Multiplier configured system from Ubuntu 8.10 to 9.04 will result in package management issues. [#2713]
- If you are already using Userful Multiplier on Ubuntu 8.10, be sure to uninstall Userful Multiplier before upgrading to Ubuntu 9.04. After Ubuntu has been updated, Userful Multiplier 325 can be installed.
Userful Multiplier 324
Changes first released May 22, 2009:
- Updated ATI Radeon driver to support Radeon R100/R200 chipsets.
- Known issue: Radeon cards don't work with other graphics cards on SLED 10 systems.
- Fixed 100% CPU usage problem in Ubuntu 9.04 using new X Server. [#2335]
- Fixed problem with poor choice of default resolution. [#2327]

- Fixed DVD/CD lockup problem after user logs out.
