Introduction
Video Capture session container casts output from any playback device (e.g. PC, Mac, Smart phone, tablet, gaming console, web cams, etc.) to a display or multiple displays in a video wall setup.
Please consider following points before using this session container:
- Supported Capture Card must be installed on the Userful host.
- Directly connected HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) encrypted content will not play unless it is first run through an HDCP capable splitter.
Station Mapping: Creating Video Capture Session Container
Station Mapping allows you to bind a specific display or a video wall to the "Video Capture" session container. To create this session container:
- Click on Station Mapping > New Session Container. From the drop-down menu select "Video Capture" as the session type and give it a name
- Select the primary Input Device from the drop-down menu
- Select the Backup Device from the drop-down menu (if the primary input device fails, the session container will capture from backup device)
- Select the "Scaling" option (default: Zoom full-screen)
- Enable audio only if it is required
- Enter the number of pixels to be cropped from left, right, top and bottom of the captured external device
- Click "OK" to complete the process
Map Displays to Video Capture Session Container
Once the session container is created, displays and video wall can be "mapped" or assigned by simply dragging-and-dropping the display or video wall icons to the Video Capture session container.
Note: Changes will not take effect until the "Apply" is clicked.
The device output will play content on the display(s) and video wall mapped to this session container.
Troubleshooting
This section outlines solution to the common problems encountered while using YUAN Capture Cards.
Color Bars when launching the station or video wall
Cause:
- YUAN capture card cannot detect any input signal
- Verify that the correct device is selected while creating the session container and the input device is plugged into the correct port on the capture card.
Black Screen(s) when launching the stations or video wall
Causes:
- Incorrect Color Space
- Verify that the color space of the capture source is correct for your card. Please see capture cards page for details, if in doubt use YUV or YCbCr.
- Non-Standard Resolutions not supported
- If the source you're trying to capture is a laptop or PC, and your display is a non-standard resolution, duplicating its screen to the capture card won't work. Resolutions such as 1366x768 or 1600x900 are not supported. To fix this:
- in Windows (set your desktop to Extended)
- in Linux (uncheck the mirror displays option in the Display Settings)
- in Mac (uncheck the mirror displays option in the Display settings)
- This will enable your laptop to correctly detect the display resolution from the capture card.
- Remove any and all Splitters/Switches from the set up. Connect the source directly to the capture card.
- HDCP content not supported
- Verify that your capture source does not have an encrypted HDMI feed(HDCP). Note: If it is a PC, Laptop or game console, verify that you're not playing any HDCP protected content (e.g. DVD or Blu-ray), or first run the HDMI signal through an HDCP compliant splitter before connecting it to the capture card to eliminate this potential cause.
