Q: How should I set up my USB hubs?

A: One per station.

Many powered USB hubs are of poor design, and either operate poorly or can cause damage to computers. Userful has verified the quality of the D-Link DUB-H4, and has negotiated a lower price point for its customers. At this time it is the only USB hub thoroughly tested and recommended by Userful. Other USB hubs will not be supported at this time. To purchase these D-Link hubs at the Userful customer rate, please contact your Userful Sales Account Manager.

Setting Up Your Powered USB Hubs

We recommend installing one powered USB hub for each station (unless you are using Userful Desktop on a single-station machine). Here is how to set things up:

  1. Power adapter plugged in.
Locate the hub at the users station for ease of use. For tips on placing and securing your hub see "Securing USB Hubs" .
  2. Plug the power supply into the USB hub and then an outlet.
  3. USB cable plugged in.
    USB ports on system unit.
Connect a USB cable to the back of your USB hub and to the back of the computer. (Use an extension cable if neccessary.)
  4. USB ports on the powered hub.
Plug your keyboard into the powered usb hub.
  5. Plug your mouse into a usb port on your keyboard.
  6. Repeat the above steps for each station.
